Foothills will be a state-of-the-art performing arts and cultural center dedicated to providing the Central New York region with top flight performing arts groups, modern educational and conference facilities and a home for many of the area’s existing arts groups. The Foothills Board of Directors, which is composed of local business and performing arts leaders, has put together a seasoned development team to prepare the effort to build the facility. In contrast to many efforts, the business model was created first and the initial design elements of the facility exist to maximize the business model. In addition to enhancing the quality and presence of the performing arts in Central New York State, Foothills will also be a significant catalyst of economic growth for decades to come. The Site: The Foothills Performing Arts Center is being constructed on Market Street in Oneonta, New York, at the site of the former West Nesbitt Feedmill. The dilapidated Feedmill was demolished in 2003 with help from a Small Cities HUD grant sponsored by Senator Jim Seward and Governor George Pataki. This premier site, located within 25 miles of Cooperstown, NY, and only a few hours drive from New York City, will build upon and connect the existing cultural tourism destinations in the region. Foothills Performing Arts Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
